Six years ago, we left the halls of Assumption, seeking to make a difference.
Armed with the desire to act on and pass on,the students of Assumption College San Lorenzo HS Batch 2006 left high school to embark on new adventures and pursue different dreams. Today, we revisit that desire as we prepare for our first homecoming. Beyond the excitement of it all however, we hope to bring true significance to the event by fighting for a cause together.
For many of us, the battle against cancer hits close to home.
Having lost loved ones to cancer, or consoled friends whose families have suffered thusly, we want to be able to help those who are similarly afflicted—keeping in mind that some Filipino children do not have the necessary funds for treatment. Thus, AC HS Batch 2006, in cooperation with the Cancer Warriors Foundation, Inc., will be hosting a special screening of Les Misérables: The Musical Phenomenon, to raise funds for Filipino children battling cancer.
Les Misérables: The Musical Phenomenon is a highly anticipated film, which follows the success of the novel by Victor Hugo and the hit musical, originally set to stage by Claude-Michel Schonberg and Alain Boublil. The new film is directed by the critically acclaimed Tom Hooper. Its powerhouse cast is led by Hugh Jackman (as Jean Valjean), Russell Crowe (as Javert), Anne Hathaway (as Fantine), and Amanda Seyfried (as Cosette).
Assumption College San Lorenzo HS Batch 2006 will be holding the special screening on January 18, 2013 (Friday), at 10 pm at the Rockwell Digital Cinema 6, Powerplant Mall, Makati City. Prior to the screening, there will be a short program for the guests and prospective sponsors. All the proceeds from the special screening will be turned over to the Cancer Warriors Foundation.
